This consists of 24 hours of classroom instruction (12 classes) and
6 hours of on-the-road driving (6 drives). When the student passes all of
the classroom requirements as well as in-car examination, the student will
receive his or her certificate of completion. Following the completion of
segment one, the student must take the certificate to the Secretary of
State, and they will issue a Level 1 license. The student must then drive
with a parent or guardian for a minimum of 90 days and 30 practice driving
hours of a 50 hour total requirement. At that time, the student will be
permitted to register for segment two.
The student must
be 14 years and 8 months to be eligible to start on the first day of class, and attend the subsequent

Segment two consists of 6 hours of classroom instruction on defensive
driving. Students must have completed 30 hours of practice driving of a 50
hour requirement with a
parent or guardian and must have obtained a level one license validated by
the Secretary of State office at least 90 days prior to the start of
class. Students will receive a segment two certificate upon completion.
To be eligible,
the student must have:
- Completed a drivers education segment one course
- Minimum 90 days on a level one license
- Minimum 30 hours driving time (2 hours at night)
- The class must be paid for in full by the first day of class
